Product Description

(Cinnamomum tamala) from 15-year-old trees. Each 100g contains 80-90 whole leaves with complex woodsy-cinnamon aroma. Unlike Mediterranean varieties, Indian bay leaves have three distinct veins and more intense flavor. Essential for slow-cooked dishes - remove before serving. Helps regulate blood sugar by improving insulin sensitivity. Store in airtight containers (3 years potency). The leaves contain parthenolide, a compound with migraine-relieving properties. Traditionally added to rice containers as insect repellent. Farmers sun-dry leaves between cotton sheets to prevent curling. Contains eugenol and myrcene that develop flavor over 2+ hours cooking. Used in Ayurvedic formulations for respiratory health. The bark can be used as cinnamon substitute.
